ADL Committee Minutes - April 2016

Minutes of the meeting of Aylesbury and District Football League Committee held at 

7.30 p.m. on Wednesday 6 April 2016At Bucks CC Sports and Social Club


Present:P Rice, Mrs M HarrisonK Saw,T Skeggs, Mrs M Stevens,M Thoday.

Also present were Liz Verrall and Lisa Welling from Berks and Bucks FA


Liz told the Committee that she was here to pick up on any issues we had with the Berks and Bucks office. She has been doing this around the County as Berks and Bucks want to help the Leagues.

Quainton had sent in a question which Liz said she would take back to the office to find out the answer.

Several questions were asked by Committee members, mostly concerning lack of communication about suspensions of players and clubs.  Liz offered training on the Whole Game System and told the Committee that although it was not completely operational, when it was it would be much more efficient.

Peter asked why our premier league were in the intermediate cup, when other counties had theirs in the junior cup.    A competitions co-ordinator is to be appointed who will look into this.


Lisa had come to the meeting to discuss the decline of 11-a-side teams.  She told the Committee that there was funding available to help generate interest and wanted ideas that would engage people to join/create football teams.  There was some discussion about this, including the possibility of setting up a summer league.


Peter thanked Liz and Lisa for attending the meeting and for their input.

Matters Arising:

Apologieswere made to Bedgrove for missing the word “Juniors” in the March minutes

There will be a 33% less chance of Cup Final tickets being allocated to clubs this season.

Bucks CC Reserves fine rescinded as they had sent in their result.

Kevin has had the backing of the Field Shield repaired



Great Milton arrived for their game against The Kennedy, as they were unaware that they had been suspended.  On this occasion league rules had not been followed, thus re-imbursement of any expenses is not permitted.

Tring Town have contacted Thames Valley Police about an alleged assault on their manager.

Matt Day of Rivets has written to thank us for Monday 4 April, and to thank Haddenham for their sportsmanship.

League Presentation will be at Long Crendon on Friday 20th May, commencing at 7-30p.m.

Referees Secretary’s Report

Several referees are suffering injuries, so numbers are depleted.  

There is another resignation because of the attitude of players

For the referees course due to be held in September, ADFL are willing to pay half the costs for any referee who is willing to pledge 12 months refereeing for ADFL

Referees insurance can be obtained through Berks and Bucks for season 2016/17

Any Other Business

  1. Proposed changes to the rules have now been sent to Berks and Bucks FA

  1. Can we please remind Secretaries/Managers that when registering ANY player

on a Saturday, you need their passport photo, (in order to verify who they

are), and your opponents signature on the back.

 Should that signature NOT take place, you run the risk of playing an

unregistered player.   Your opponents have the option of refusing to start the match, until the  signature is carried out, which could mean the match starting late, and a

fine imposed.

3. If you have issues with, or complaints against, your opponents under NO circumstances should your opponents be contacted in any way, shape, or form after the match has finished. The correct procedure is to contact the League Secretary (copy to the League Chairman), with your complaint, in order the issue can be discussed as to whether or not the league/the club/or any individual player wishes to pursue a potential misconduct charge with their local Football Association. 

This should be carried out within 7 days of the match being played.

Should you receive correspondence from your opponents after the match has finished, please do NOT respond other than contacting the League Secretary (copy to the league Chairman), in order that the local football association can be informed, for a potential misconduct charge to be issued. 

Again this should be carried out within 7 days of the correspondence being received. 


Should you feel the appointed referee on the day has NOT carried out his duties in accordance with the laws of the game and FA guidelines, your first contact should be with the League Referees Secretary who will advise accordingly. 

Can we remind clubs/teams yet again that referees are NOT accountable to the ADL, but rather to their registration body, their local Football Association.

Again this should be carried out within 7 days of the match being played. 


Should there be any physical violence involved in any of your matches, then your first contact should be the police, who then will make a decision on whether a criminal charge will be issued. 

The referee is the person who informs the local football association, who on your behalf will issue any misconduct charges as they see fit. 

Hopefully that clarifies the correct procedure.
